What TSFI measures.

TSFI is a 0–100 summary of the visible freshness characteristics observed in your photo, together with any contextual information you provide.

80–100

Fresh

Strong visible condition with no significant defects observed.

65–79

Good

Generally sound with minor visible wear or early ripening signs.

50–64

Use soon

Visible decline that suggests a shorter usable window.

Assessment factors

Visible characteristics considered in every score.

These are visible assessment factors observed from the submitted image. TSFI does not measure internal produce quality.

Colour consistency

Visible colour range and evenness across the produce surface.

Surface quality

Skin texture, gloss, shrivelling and visible surface damage.

Hydration or wilting

Signs of moisture loss such as limp leaves or soft skin.

Bruising and visible defects

Dark patches, cuts, mould-like marks and other visible defects.

Stem or leaf condition

Condition of stems, calyx and leaves where visible.

Packaging condensation

Moisture build-up inside packaging that may affect shelf life.

Ripeness indicators

Visible cues that suggest ripening stage for that produce.

Data Confidence Index

Know the score—and how much confidence to place in it.

The Data Confidence Index communicates the strength of the visual and contextual evidence used to produce each assessment.
